☺ Graduated from the University of Manchester in 1972 with a B.Sc. Honours degree in Physics.
☺ Trained as a teacher at Brunel University and obtained a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education).
☺ Taught initially at Thames Valley sixth form college in Twickenham.
☺ Following a subsequent M.Sc. in CAD software design, took up a post as Training Officer in a computer timesharing bureau. Spent several years in the software industry, which included a spell mathematically modelling computer reliability.
☺ Returned in 2003 to tutoring maths & physics - mainly on a one-to-one basis, but during some terms doing a couple of hours per week teaching at a local International Study Centre.
☺ Obtained a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) plus a certificate in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) at Brooklands College in 2011.
☺ Have an Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau.
☺ Play chess, run a junior chess club, create websites mainly for nonprofit organisations and try to keep reasonably fit!
