| An
object can affect another object that is some distance away from it using
electromagnetic radiation. The flow chart summarises how this happens.
For example, think about looking at a lamp through a
window:
- The lamp is the source of radiation (the visible light).
- The light travels through the air and glass to your eyes.
- Some of it is absorbed by the air and glass, and some is reflected
off the surface of the glass.
- Your eyes are the detector. They absorb light and transmit signals
to the brain.
